13th June
A lovely day at SWECA open show yesterday, Eula won Open and was Best of Breed, Willow, her sister, won Post Graduate and was Res. Best of Breed. Such a nice result for us. The humor for the day was provided by Willows handler. Due to a knee injury her owner Sylvia was not able to handle and so a friend of theirs stepped into the breach as they say. Having moved her around the ring, he then promptly put on ON the table!! We did laugh, seems he misheard the judge - how funny, but none of us thought to take a photo of it, what a shame :-)). The sucess of the girls didn't stop there, Willow went on to win the AV Gundog Post Grad Class, and was also 3rd in a large Res. Best of Breed Stakes. Eula went on to group 2, and we are very happy with that. Our judge today was Elaine Cannon (Hightforce). Eula is crawling her way to her Show Certificate of Merrit, not something we set out to acheve, but she is now just 2 points away, so who knows, she may even make it :-)

I have finally found some time to update the website with news of last weekend. On Friday, we went to Southern Counties Championship Show with Jane, who had Harvey entered in the Open class, Eula was entered in her first Limit class, so now up the the big girls, and Isla was in Open Bitch. I was pleased with Eula, who managed at decent 3rd place amonst some lovely girls, and Isla was 4th in open, again in a good class. Harvey was 2nd in Open dog and called back in for the RCC but got no further......THEN.......we went to Ireland!!!!
Yes, we trundled down the M4 and caught the early Saturday morning ferry, to Rosslare. Our first show was Munster Canine Society Show, and our Judge was Colm Beattie. Harvey won the Dog Green Star, Eula the Bitch Green Star, and Isla was 2nd behind Eula in the open class. Harvey then went on to win Group 1 under the same judge. Jane had also taken Kane her GSP and it was his first show for about 6 years!!!! He did well to win his class and was awarded the Res. Green Star. What a lovely day!!
Our second show was on Sunday, near Blarney, and no, we didn't get to kiss the Blarney stone!! Our judge today was Mr B Grice, and again Harvey won the Dog Green Star and Eula the Bitch Green Star, with Isla again 2nd in Open to Eula. Harvey went on to Group 3 today, so another good day. Kane was 2nd in his class today.
The dogs also enjoyed the large garden at our B&B on Saturday evening, and the Beach on Monday Morning before catching the ferry home.

On Monday, I took Isla and Harry....yes, you did read that correctly - Harry, to a companion show in aid of Rottweiler Rescue. It was a lovely day, weather was perfect and there was a massive entry. This show has grown so much in 3 years, I hope it continues to do well to help the Rotties that are in care to go on to lead happy lives. Harry, due to is accident which has left him lame can only go in the Handsome Dog class, so he has was spurced up for his annual outing. Sadly he was not placed...can't think why, but then I am a little biased haha!. I entered Isla in a couple of the novelty classes, but withdrew her due to the heat, and she made a appearence in the Open breed class, where she came 4th.
More news to come of another busy weekend. This weekend coming we are off to Ireland for two shows in Cork, but not before attending Southern Counties in Newbury first!!! I shall be taking Isla and Eula and we are going with Jane, and her two boys, Harvey, and Kane her GSP.
Look out for the updates, when we are back next week.
29th May
South of England Gundog Open show today, with breed specialist Anna Naylor (Bridies). From a lovely entry of 17 dogs, Eula was Best of Breed. Isla was 2nd in Post Grad. Another lovely day, and another Maidstone Breakfast, which is now a tradition!!
Eula's Critique: I fell for this girl, she is so 'Springer', as fit for a day in the field as for a day in the show ring. The best of feminine heads with that melting expression. Dark almond shaped eyes, beautiful reach of neck flowing into laid back shoulders, clean throat, balanced body proportions making a lovely picture stacked. Well sprung rib cage and depth of chest. Good angulation fore and aft. Correct tail set, neat feet, and well boned legs, but no coarseness. Strong, muscled hindquarters. The best mover of the day especially from behind as she happily drove around the ring BOB
21st May
Had a lovely day today at Wickford and Basildon Open show. Isla was 3rd in Graduate and Eula 2nd in Open and Res. Best of Breed. Judge today was Sharon Berkley (Cherryheath). We had great weather, it was a nice venue and we spent the day chatting with friends - super duper!!
Eula's Critique : very pretty bitch, good shoulders, moved very well.
2nd May
Having had a short break from shows, Friday 29th April I did something completely different and went to London with my two sisters and a million other people for the Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton. We had a fantastic day, and they looked like they really enjoyed their day too.
Back to reality and a show, this time at Ardingly under breed specialist, Teresa Dunsden (Seaspring). It was a good entry and Isla won a good graduate class, which I was really pleased with. Eula was 2nd in a good open class and was Res. best of breed. It was a lovely day but cold and windy, still at least it wasn't raining as it was an outdoor show. As it was combined with the South of England Garden show, shopping for plants also took place and it was a good job I had left credit card at home otherwise shopping for a lot more would have taken place - could have spent loads!!!
Isla's critique: Mature honest bitch whose feminine head and dark eye are very appealing, good size and compact shape, no exaggerations anywhere, strong in neck and body would prefer slightly more length of back, but her well developed hindquarters enabled her to move smoothly and steadily.
16th April
Over to Maidstone today for a local show, UK Paper Canine Society Open Show. Only a small entry today, as it clashed with a breed club championship show, so most of the local exhibitors went there. However, Eula was Best of Breed, winning open, Isla was Res Best of Breed winning Graduate, and Matilda, Teresa's young bitch won novice. We had a breed specialist today, Richard Bott ( Allenie). It was a very long day, and we didn't leave the show until 6 having waited all day for Best in Show, Eula didn't figure in the 'big ring' today. We stopped at a local park on the way home and gave the dogs a nice run. We have no shows now until May, so news may be a bit thin on the ground for awhile.
April 10th
Our first show after our holiday, and Eula missed it due to her season. However, we spent an enjoyable day with Teresa at Crystal Palace Open Show. Isla won Post Grad and was Best of Breed, Matilda (Teresa's bitch) won Junior, well done to them. After the show we had a lovely picnic in the glorious weather, that had been supplied by Teresa. We then took the dogs to a near by park to round off a perfect day. Harry also came along for a day out, not sure he really enjoyed it too much apart from the run in the park at the end.
